RM of Mayfield’s story
The Rural Municipality of Mayfield No. 406 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. Its name is a blend of two local names, Maymont and Fielding.
Three villages sit within the RM: Denholm, Maymont and Ruddell. The unincorporated localities of Fielding and Lilac are also part of it, and the RM office is in Maymont.
One of the best-known spots is Glenburn Regional Park, on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River about 8 kilometres south of Maymont. It lies near the site of the former Maymont Ferry, which carried traffic across the river from 1926 to 1975. Today the park offers a campground with 61 sites, ball diamonds, a three-hole grass greens golf course, disc golf, a spring-fed swimming pool, river access and hiking trails.
